In 2007 I retired from the Canadian Forces after having spent 24 years as a Regular Canadian Army Officer. My wife and subsequently the rest of the family had spent almost 19 years of that time following me around from place to place in Canada and the world. In that period of time my wife, in between working and articling with some law firms, kept up her vocation of playing the bagpipes. It is in this regard that I have become the follower, supporter, bag carrier, etc.
She has played with the Bonnie Blue Bells Girls Pipe Band in Saskatoon, Clan Scotia Pipe Band in Regina, the Special Service Force Pipes and Drums in Petawawa and again with the 2 CMBG Pipes and Drums in Petawawa. She played with the Cheltenham Scottish Pipe Band when we lived in England and has played various gigs in the Greater Edmonton Area. When I left the army my wife had the opportunity to find a new band to spend time with – the Edmonton Transit System Pipes and Drums. She has now been with them since 2007, is on their board of directors, has gone on a number of excursions, to Jasper, Ponoka, Morinville, Lethbridge, Bitterroot Scottish/Irish Festival in Montana. This year the band was presented with a trip to the 1st International Celtic Music Festival in Mexico which will be held in Puerto Vallarta. We leave Sunday! Woot Woot!!
I will try to post and take pics as we go along.
